Portare |
Portare is the first in our line of premium coiled mattresses. Its firm innersprings are tufted by hand within the bed for greater manual compression. This secures your springs in place and grants your bed a longer life. Enjoy a touch of comfort with cotton upholstery and triple plush quilting. Core |
|
| Material - Premium Firm Innerspring Traditional Technique - Mounting Frame Hinge-Flex™ Innerspring features premium firm coils. Made with a heavier gauge, these coils are built to last longer than other premium innersprings. The unique hinging-action of each coil's top allows the surface of this firm mattress to flex smoothly to your body's contours. The elliptical top of the spring is also designed to better fit the curves of your body. Each Hinge-Flex coil is tied securely to neighboring springs with an extra resilient helical, ensuring a longer life for your mattress. |
| Material - Steel Edge Supports Traditional Technique - Fortifying Edge The edge of the mattress is fortified with steel edge supports to further increase firmness of the bed's edge. Our artisans take these extra steps so your mattress doesn't sag as your body presses the edges. Securing the edge with steel offers unbeatable firmness that adds more support to your springs, which in turn adds to the longevity of your mattress' life. |
| Material - Steel Grid Traditional Technique - Covering Coil Openings A steel grid is secured above the inner spring coil to deliver insulation. We use the Steel Grid Posturizer™ Perm-A-Lator ® which is a grid forming 1-inch spaces. This grid evenly distributes the weight of your body across the entire mattress. As a result natural upholstery materials are protected from the durable springs ensuring that your upholstery never cups into the springs. These 19-gauge wires are oil-tempered for an extra spring-like movement. |
| Material - Insulator Pad Traditional Technique - Insulating Coils Above the steel grid a durable cotton felt pad is laid by hand. This insulates movements, adds a soft touch to further protect your upholstery from the springs below. By insulating the coils, the surface of your mattress feels smooth and will remain so for long. |
Upholstery Layer |
|
| Material - Triple Thick Cotton Batting Traditional Technique - Cotton Upholstering and Inner-Tufting A triple thick layer of quality cotton batting is laid by hand across the surface of your mattress. By integrating more cotton, this series delivers an exceptionally supportive mattress that feels softer and springier. Cotton is a fiber that's naturally resilient. Over time it resists deterioration and breakdown unlike synthetic fibers. Cotton is also breathable and soft—making it the perfect choice for a clean, comfortable sleep surface. The traditional craft of hand-laying cotton creates an even upholstered surface. This long careful process requires our upholstery craftsman to carefully lay, stretch, wrap and tuck this key layer over each mattress coil. After the upholstery is laid it is securely sewn to the core with a traditional upholstery method called tufting. In our workshop we tuft cotton batting and the coil core by hand for two reasons. This process compresses your springs so they remain resilient for longer. It also pre-packs the cotton upholstery—by pushing the air out of the cotton we've created a condensed layer of comfort that will remain dependably smooth for decades. |
Comfort Layer |
|
| Material - Quilted Plush Top Traditional Technique - Quilting, Tape-Edging and Embroidery The topmost layer is the quilted plush top. This is created by sewing ticking and comfortable filling materials to the surface, so it feels both soft and springy. Once this final tier of comfort is secured, our artisans conduct a few more upholstery techniques to finish it all off. They seal the edge of the mattress with an overlocking stitch. Above this they stitch a narrow piece of fabric around the edge, creating a beautifully hand-sewn welt that lines the entire mattress perimeter. Lastly the mattress' name is embroidered for an elegant final touch. |
Double Sided |
|
| Handcrafted techniques and quality materials are applied to both sides of your mattress so you enjoy longer-lasting support and supreme comfort for decades. |
